Tiger 3’s production company, Yash Raj Films, has a “strategic” explanation for picking Sunday, November 12 as the release date.
The most recent installment of Aditya Chopra’s YRF Spy Universe, Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, was always slated to be out around Diwali 2023. But in addition to releasing the trailer on Monday, Yash Raj Films also disclosed the precise release date for the movie: November 12. Diwali, so that makes sense. But oddly enough, it’s also Sunday.
On a Sunday, why? (Tiger 3)
Tiger 3 should have come out on a Friday, or perhaps a Wednesday like Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, the first installment in the YRF Spy Universe. The big-budget film starring Sidharth Anand was released on January 24—the day before Republic Day, a national holiday. It provided the movie with a strong start at the domestic box office.
However, due to Dhanteras, Tiger 3 won’t be released on Friday, November 10. Even though it’s not a holiday for everyone, it’s odd that the release date was changed to Sunday, November 12, 2 days later.
According to a press release that the production company was able to get, “YRF has developed a smart and distinctive release plan as a result of the complex release window this Diwali. The fact that 2023 is the “Adhik Maas” year has complicated the celebration dates. The New Moon/Amavasya is on Monday, November 13, and the Govardhan Pooja/Gujarati New Year is on Tuesday, November 14. Since Bhai Dooj occurs on November 15, the movie will have a longer run during this important holiday season, which will help with sales throughout the week.
Two days of clear skies for The Marvels
The Marvels, a superhero movie directed by Nia DaCosta and starring Brie Larson, was able to enjoy a two-day window without any significant Bollywood competition because to YRF’s innovative distribution strategy. On November 10, Friday, it will be shown in Indian theatres.
The third installment of the Tiger franchise is titled Tiger 3, and it is directed by Maneesh Sharma. Shah Rukh will make a brief appearance as Pathaan and the film also features Emraan Hashmi, Revathy, and Kumud Mishra.
