Shubman Gill Might be available against Australia in the World Cup 2023

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill’s availability is in doubt, dealing a severe setback to India’s preparation for their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 opener against Australia

According to PTI, Gill, who landed in Chennai on Wednesday morning with Team India, has ‘Dengue’ and is receiving treatment.

The great player will have tests today while being watched by the BCCI medical team after he missed India’s training session on Thursday. Gill’s availability for the match on October 8 at Chepauk won’t be decided until tests are completed.

In one-day cricket, the 24-year-old has been in excellent form for India this year, scoring 1,230 runs and seven hundreds.

Following a dry spell following the wildly successful Indian Premier League in 2023, Gill found his form in the Asia Cup and extended his unbeaten streak in three ODIs against Australia.

The Gujarat Titans player finished with 302 runs in the Asia Cup, which India won while scoring 890 runs in the IPL 2023.

India will bat first with either Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul if Gill is ruled out, with the Mumbai Indians star perhaps getting the nod over the skipper of the Lucknow Super Giants.

Rahul has a great track record in the middle order lately, and he has been in excellent shape ever since he returned from injury.

As both of their warm-up matches against England and the Netherlands were canceled due to rain, Rohit Sharma and company will enter the tournament’s opening match against Australia without any playing experience.
