India’s dynamic wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was spotted batting for the first time after surviving a car accident in December of last year. After the accident, he was ruled out of professional cricket and underwent many procedures to treat the damage he sustained. Pant batted and bowled for the first time in over 8 months on Tuesday in Bengaluru. His batting video, in which he can be seen hammering maximums in a local Bengaluru competition, went viral on social media.

The batter from Delhi suffered many significant ailments, including a right knee injury that necessitated ligament surgery. It’s been roughly eight months after the deadly accident, and the Delhi Capitals player has been through extensive rehabilitation. Previously, in February 2023, the young wicketkeeper underwent surgery in Mumbai to repair three ligaments under the supervision of Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala.

Earlier this week, Pant posted a video of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer batting together in a warm-up game. Due to his injuries, Pant is certain to miss the next Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup. Ishan Kishan will be the Indian team’s backup wicketkeeper if Rahul is unable to compete in the Asia Cup. As of now, the 25-year-old has played 33 Tests, 30 One-Day Internationals, and 66 Twenty20 Internationals for India, hitting six international hundreds.

Even Indian bowler Ishant Sharma gave an update on Pant’s recovery, adding that the Delhi star may miss the IPL next year as well.

Ishant claimed during a Jio Cinema discussion, “I feel we might not see Rishabh Pant in the next IPL as well because it is not a minor injury.” It was a dreadful mishap. He has just lately begun batting and wicketkeeping, and running and turning after that is tough for both a wicketkeeper and a batter.”
