Paris Saint-Germain defeated Borussia Dortmund easily in their opening Group F match of the 2023–24 UEFA Champions League campaign with two goals from Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi. In the 49th minute, Mbappe converted a penalty, and in the 58th, a beautiful Hakimi goal increased the hosts’ lead.
The first half was lackluster, with PSG failing to capitalize on their superiority in front of goal. When PSG was awarded a penalty in the second half after Niklas Süle was found to have handled the ball in the box, things soon changed. Mbappe, a star player for France, stepped up and calmly drilled the ball into the bottom corner.
Dortmund appeared to be in a bind but increased their lead after nine minutes. Achraf Hakimi, a former player for Borussia Dortmund, performed a dance move past the defenders before launching an outside-of-the-foot shot into the goal.
Vitinha, who was brilliant and hit the post with a deft shot, helped Paris control possession in the first half. Dortmund, who came near through Donyel Malen, though, appeared to be a threat on the break. However, the situation shifted in the first minute of the second half when Mbappe mishit a shot and it struck Niklas Sule’s arm.
The referee somehow correctly called a penalty that was easily dispatched by Mbappe. Paris put the game away in the 58th minute. A fantastic attack that started on the left and ended on the right was completed by Vitinha setting up Hakimi for a superb finish.
