A 30-year-old Piyush Pal’s died in an accident; while he was bleeding, his laptop and camera were taken

Police report that the accident happened on Saturday night when Piyush Pal’s motorbike collided with another two-wheeler.

According to police officials informed of the situation on Wednesday, a 30-year-old independent filmmaker passed away on Tuesday, three days after suffering critical injuries in an accident close to the Panchsheel Park Metro station in south Delhi.

Although authorities did not respond to the claims, friends of the victim, Piyush Pal, also claimed that while he lay bleeding on the road, his laptop, camera, and other belongings were taken. As per the police report, the accident happened on Saturday night at approximately 10 p.m. when Pal, a resident of Kalkaji who worked as a freelance photographer in Gurugram, and Bunty Kumar, a 26-year-old resident of Badarpur who is a private driver in Gurugram, collided with Pal’s motorbike.

At 10:11 p.m., according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chandan Chaudhary, the Hauz Khas police received a call regarding the collision. When a team arrived, they discovered that the two patients had been transferred to different hospitals. There were no eyewitnesses at the scene. According to her, one injured person had been moved to PSRI Hospital and the other to AIIMS Trauma Centre.

The DCP claimed that after analyzing CCTV footage, it appeared as though Pal’s motorbike and Kumar’s car collided. According to Kumar’s statement, a case was filed on Monday under sections 279 (driving while negligently operating a vehicle) and 337 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code. Information regarding Pal’s passing was received on Tuesday night, about six o’clock. The deceased man’s body was given to his family after a post-mortem on Wednesday, according to Chaudhary.

Pal’s pals, however, reported that spectators had stolen his mobile phone, laptop, and camera following the tragedy.

Former colleague Ishani Dutta asserted that spectators were busy taking pictures and films of Pal with their phones rather than calling the police or sending him to the hospital.

Meanwhile, a prominent journalist friend of Pal’s who wished to remain anonymous claimed, “Many people took pictures and selfies and stole Pal’s laptop, purse, and mobile.”

DCP Choudhary responded to questions regarding the claims by saying that more information could only be obtained through an investigation.
