The current US Open 2023 saw three-time winner Novak Djokovic win his quarterfinal match to go to the semifinals

The current US Open’s 23-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic maintained his winning streak by defeating American Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals and moving on to the semifinals. After a two-hour and 35-minute match, Djokovic defeated Fritz in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4, and also broke Roger Federer’s record.

With his win over Fritz, Djokovic advanced to a record-tying 47th Grand Slam semifinal, making him the male player with the most appearances in the men’s semifinals. Federer previously held the record with 46 of these performances, and the three-time US Open winner now easily holds the position.

Ben Shelton of the USA defeated Frances Tiafoe in another quarterfinal match to go to the semifinals. Both players gave each other a terrible time on the court, making the match a mouthwatering confrontation. Shelton prevailed in the four-set match, which lasted three hours and was incredibly exciting, with scores of 6-2, 3-6, 7-6, and 6-2.

However, the quarterfinal matches on the women’s circuit turned out to be very straightforward. Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia was beaten by sixth-seeded Coco Gauff in two sets, 6-0 and 6-2, to move on to the semifinals. Ostapenko upset the defending champion, Iga Swiatek, in the fourth round, but she was unable to create an impression against Gauff. In a separate match, Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic easily defeated Sorana Cirstea of Romania, 6-0, 6-3, to move to the semifinals.

Indian supporters had reason for hope as the Australian combination of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden defeated the American team of Jackson Withrow and Nathaniel Lammons in straight sets, 7-6, 6-1.
