With the Ram temple in Ayodhya approaching its consecration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday that he will be performing a unique ceremony every day till the inauguration. “I consider myself lucky to be here for this significant occasion as well. During the consecration, the Lord appointed me to represent the entire Indian population. In light of this, I am initiating a unique ritual that will last 11 days starting today. I’m asking for everyone’s blessings. The Prime Minister posted on social networking site X, “I have tried to express my feelings in words, but it is tough at this moment.”

Oppn versus BJP over Ram temple consecration:

In the meantime, several leaders of the Opposition INDIA group declared they would not be attending the ceremony, continuing the political back-and-forth over invites. The BJP has come under fire from several opposition politicians for allegedly “politicizing” the occasion. Leaders of the opposition, such as Sitaram Yechury of CPI(M) and Derek O’Brien of the TMC, have declared that religion ought to be a “personal matter.” The Opposition has been branded as “anti-Hindu” by several BJP politicians for declining the invitation.
