CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 3 BIGGEST UPDATE

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Will Be Released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

CALL OF DUTY UPDATE

Earlier today, there was some confusion over the coming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and whether it will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as current-gen systems. CoD enthusiasts who don’t own a PS5 or Xbox Series system yet may relax, because the game is coming to the previous generation as well.

TheGamingRevolution, a Twitter user and content producer, pointed out that on the official Xbox page for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, only Xbox Series X and S were featured – on Xbox One. The user then pointed up a YouTube video from PlayStation’s official account that appeared to confirm both the PS5 and PS4 launches, leaving it unclear what was going on. Was one of the two platform holders mistaken? Was the game just coming to the PS4 but not the Xbox One?

Fortunately, there is no need for concern. Since then, the official Xbox website has been updated to include both the Xbox Series X and S, as well as the Xbox One, and IGN has independently confirmed that neither the Xbox nor PlayStation listings are incorrect. A Call of Duty: Warzone announcement event is scheduled for August 17, which should further clarify this, but in the meanwhile, past-gen console gamers shouldn’t be concerned about being left behind.

The misunderstanding about platforms today was understandable considering the recent news cycle around Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The game has been famously leaky in the months preceding its unveiling and release date of November 10, 2023, to the point that Activision has finally embraced the irony. Hopefully, the August 17 event will clear the air sufficiently to satisfy everyone before November.
