India has so far confirmed 91 medals, but there are already 9 that have been guaranteed, bringing the total to the crucial three-figure threshold.
On October 6, wrestler Sonam earned the 100th medal, marking a key turning point in the journey that started with the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Silver Medal. Sonam won the bronze medal in the 62 kg freestyle event by defeating Long Jiain of China. Sonam defeated her Chinese opponent 7-5 to take home the third-place trophy.
India’s extraordinary Olympic adventure
There are several champions from the journey that started with the objective of “Iss baar 100 paar” in Hangzhou. Numerous medals were won by Indian athletes. On September 24, a women’s 10m air rifle team won the nation’s first medal as they took home the silver. Sonam, another woman, brought the 100th one for the nation two days before the Games came to a finish on October 8. India won gold medals thanks to athletes like Neeraj Chopra, Murali Sreeshankar, Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Parul Chaudhary, and Annu Rani, while other competitors brought home silver and bronze. In all, India has 91 medals, including 21 Gold, 33 Silver, and 37 Bronze.
India is guaranteed 9 additional medals in addition to the 91 medals it has already won. Three medals are guaranteed for the archery event, compared to two for Kabaddi. A medal apiece is guaranteed for badminton, cricket, hockey, and bridge. China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea are all ahead of India in the total medal count, placing India in fourth place.
